Welcome to November! October went by soooo fast, but we are thoroughly enjoying Hallmark’s all Christmas all the time lineup. Here’s everything else we’re loving in this week’s And Then We Tried obsessions.

Craigslist, Always Craigslist

craigslist furniture

This week, during my daily Craigslist scroll, I came across a post selling all of the furniture from a model townhome in Westlake. Everything was essentially brand new, and verrrryyy nice. While I wanted to buy everything and either keep it or resell it for $$$, most of it was already sold by the time I called them. I snagged two leather pouf ottomans, they were calling them “orange puffs” on the post, and a white table lamp that almost exactly matches all of my inspiration lamps from this post. Weirdly, they were also calling these West Elm Slope chairs “orange puff chairs” as well, so I think someone really doesn’t know the words “brown leather.” But hey, I’ll take two “orange puff ottomans” for $40. Thanks. If you want similar orange puffs, I think they are these Brown Leather Poufs from CB2.

Cleveland peeps, let me know if you are looking for any furniture or decor things and I’ll keep an eye out for you!

Project Runway

project runway

I had forgotten Project Runway was still on and then it came back into my life when I was posted up on the couch for days when I had mono. Even though I can’t sew anything, I love watching and critiquing the efforts of the contestants. Gimme any fast-paced creative challenge show and I’ll be happy. Other faves: Face Off, The Great British Pottery Throw Down, and Flea Market Flip (though this one feels like cheating to me since they have a team of pros in the shop helping them transform their pieces).

Parabo Press

parabo press and then we tried

Last year, sometime after our trip to Thailand, I got this set of 4″ square prints from Parabo Press. They are super cute and really nice quality. After forgetting about them for a bit, I reached for one last week when I wanted to sneak a quick note into Tai’s bag before he headed out for a business trip. It was the perfect little size and memento and now I’m dreaming up all other quick notes I can give to friends and family.

Their set of 25 4″ prints are FREE you just have to pay shipping. Plus they also offer a free 5.5″ softcover photo book. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Favorite Hack

candle wax hack

I will gladly spend more for a candle that is in a container that I love and can reuse. So when this one burnt out this week it was time for my very favorite hack. Super simple, once your candle has burnt itself out, just pour in boiling water and wait approximately 10 min. Pour out the water/wax mixture (be careful not to get it everywhere!) and wipe the inside clean! Could not be easier.

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Gift Guide: Indoorsy

Struggling to find gift ideas for your favorite people? We’ve got you covered with our And Then We Tried gift guide! First up: your friends and family who are decidedly indoorsy. While we can’t claim to be experts on much, things to buy people who like to stay inside is definitely in our wheelhouse.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
