Everyone ready for the holiday weekend?! We are! This week we grabbed some great new products from Target, Michelle is FINALLY going to stop talking about her gym shoes, and Hannah is finding excuses to hang out on her porch. See everything we’re obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried obsessions.

My gym shoe search is over: Nike Metcon 3, Size 8

Nike Metcon 3

Update on the gym shoes: Three weeks deep into trying gym shoes and I picked a pair! I’m sticking with the Nike Metcon 3s in a size 8. The 8.5 was a little too roomy in the toe area, and while the 8 seems a little snug, Morgen says this is a good thing for her, so I’m doing it. After trying out all of these:  Nike Metcon Repper D,  Nike Free TR 7Asics Gel-Fit YUI and other sizes of the Metcon 3s, I’m excited to just be able to wear the shoes to the gym and stop thinking about it.

The Bachelorette

I’m obsessed with The Bachelorette, and The Bachelor, and Bachelor in Paradise and everything to do with anyone in the Bachelor Fam. This week while watching Bryan attack Rachel’s face I discovered that Bryan looks so much like Mr. Tumnus from Chronicles of Narnia! Check out this conclusive evidence:

Kristen Ess Hair Products

Kristen Ess Signature Shampoo and Conditioner

I picked up this Kristen Ess Signature Shampoo and Conditioner from Target this week and I AM LOVING IT! They smell soooo good and the packaging is so pretty. I also use the texturizing powder from her line and it works well to add some grit to a ponytail or braid. They are $10 each if you are looking for a new shampoo or conditioner, or just want something pretty to set out in the bathroom!

Pixi GelTint Lip Stain

and then we tried obsessions lip stain

I’ve always been a lip stain kind of girl. I’d much rather have a stain than a lipstick which makes me question if I really want to be eating or drinking anything. And with all the rosé we’re consuming this summer, I need to keep all my options open! I am loving this lip stain at the moment. I was looking for a more readily available alternative to the Glossier Generation G—technically a lipstick (but wears like a stain). This one by Pixi is easy to pick up at Target and gives the perfect berry stain color. PLUS Target lets you return pretty much anything so it’s risk-free to try for yourself!

& Other Stories

I just discovered this store and keep coming back to these adorable dresses. I want all of them. If you’re native to the Los Angeles area they have a store in the Americana. But then you also know all the mental energy it takes to go to the Americana… These dresses just might be worth it.

DIY Hanging Daybed Update

DIY hanging daybed update

When I first put up my DIY Hanging Daybed, I had it hanging from rope. That didn’t turn out to be the best idea stability-wise, so we switched the ropes out for chains. I didn’t love the look, however, so I wrapped the chains in this sisal rope from Home Depot. Fifty feet only got me through about one and a half chains, so I’ll need to pick up some more, but I’m liking it!

Now Reading

I haven’t been reading nearly as much as I’d like to lately, but since I’ve been spending so much time on the aforementioned hanging daybed, I’ve been getting some more reading done. I recently started Into the Water by Paula Hawkins and I’m liking it so far! Has anyone else read it yet? I just started but so far it’s just creepy enough for me.

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Gift Guide: Indoorsy

Struggling to find gift ideas for your favorite people? We’ve got you covered with our And Then We Tried gift guide! First up: your friends and family who are decidedly indoorsy. Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
