We’re back from Mexico and trying to keep those vacation vibes going with our accessories and some fun new DIY ideas. See the latest And Then We Tried obsessions for the week:

HUGE Earrings

And Then We Tried Obsessions: loving statement earrings. And always loving these pets.
The statement earrings in these pics are from Madewell, but they aren’t for sale anymore. ???? The babies were too cute to not share though!

I can’t stop wearing huge earrings. They are super impractical for work since I wear over-ear headphones, but when have I ever let practicality hold me back? I’m finding it a lot easier to wear giant statement earrings if they are sculptural or fringey/textural instead of sparkly. Here are a bunch of my faves:

Garage Update:

A few weeks worth of obsessions ago, I was working on fixing the back of my garage so it would be ready to paint. This week I finished installing the new wood boards along the base of the back of the garage. Jennifer held all the boards in place, and I screwed in a ton of deck screws. Should look great (or at least fine) once it is all painted. That Bondo I slapped on a hole on the front of the garage is proving to be very hard to sand. Gonna have to bust out the Dremel. Otherwise, it will look better painted, and I just have to remind myself this is the garage and no one else cares. Wish me luck!

Patches

I can’t handle all the amazing patches being made right now. I want to buy ALL of them. These speak to me, but maybe you aren’t as bitter/angry/constantly annoyed.

This Article About Child Psychopaths

One of the reasons I am so interested in true crime is the psychology behind a criminal. This article, When Your Child is a Psychopath, from The Atlantic, is SO fascinating and gives some great insight into the current school of thought behind treating “callous children.”

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
