Obsessions: 03.09.18

We’ve come to the conclusion that when Robin is out of the country, the rest of the ATWT team falls to pieces. So, Robin, hope you’re having a good trip and everything but come back to us soon! Here’s what we’re loving in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Driveway Gate Prep

converting a four foot chainlink fence to a six foot wood fence

Even though it just snowed a whole bunch in Cleveland, I am mentally preparing for building my driveway gate next month. Last year, I shared how I moved the back fence and converted my chainlink fence to a wood fence, so now it is time to officially wrap up the fence project with a gate. I have a single width driveway but that is still a bit long for one giant swinging gate, so I’m planning on splitting it in the middle. I’ll need to reinforce the back deck post a little bit for one side of the gate to attach but I’m hoping I can connect the other half to the steel end post. I still need to run a little piece of fence to connect to the garage, but after the gate is done, Freddie should have free reign of the yard!

Astrology Charts

I scrolled past someone on Facebook who mentioned star chars so obviously I had to go check mine out and it was CRAZY ACCURATE. I entered in my info on this one and I’m sure I could have just been interpreting whatever they said in a way that made sense to me, but it really felt like these people were inside my brain telling my life to me. It called that I’m artistic/creative, like to travel, suck at money, and that I tend to surround myself with chaos. HI, CHART, GET OUT OF MY BRAIN. I’m not sure exactly what I’m supposed to do with this information, but I’ll be trying to organize some chaos out of my life by putting away my laundry this weekend. Baby steps.

Now Listening: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Next on my audiobook train is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. I think this is the perfect example of when to listen to a book instead of reading it. I’ve started this book a handful of times but never finished it. With the audiobook version though, I’m cranking through it! I listen to it when I drive, when I get ready in the morning, when I’m cleaning around the house, and when I cook. I’ve already made it a lot farther in than I have when I try to read it. I don’t have a full opinion on the book yet, but I think I like it so far despite some problematic parts.

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit

law and order svu obsessions

I’ve been a casual SVU fan for years, but I recently decided to start the series from the beginning on Hulu. I’m now on season three and I have forsaken all other television for Olivia and Elliot. So if you need me, just follow the sound of the *dun dun*.

This has been another week of And Then We Tried Obsessions, where we share whatever we’re obsessed with each week. Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
