Obsessions: 03.02.18

WE DID IT. It’s March, which means spring is right around the corner which means it’s basically rosé season. In fact, the weather was cooperating earlier this week so Hannah and Michelle got a head start on testing for this year’s exposé. See everything else we’re loving in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

You Had Me At Pierogies CLE Clothing Company T-Shirt

CLE Clothing Co. You had me at Pierogies

Hannah and I bought these shirts basically the minute CLE Clothing Co. launched them and since then my sister has also bought one. I don’t wear many novelty t-shirts, but this one just spoke to my soul. Also, now that my hair isn’t purple, I’m allowed to wear a red shirt. Hooray, perks of being blonde.

Black Panther

Black Panther

I finally saw Black Panther last night and it was so amazing! The effects, costumes, hair, scenery, everything was so so well done. I’m already looking forward to seeing it again. What was your favorite part of the movie? Okoye throwing her wig at that dude was a particularly hilarious scene.

Bonus

I’m going skiing this weekend and have only skied twice before so wish me luck! Also if you have any recommendations for things to do around Holiday Valley or in Ellicottville let me know in the comments!

LL Bean Mountain Anorak

llbean anorak

Picked up this anorak for my trip to New Zealand and hoping it makes me look like the cute, casual, outdoorsy lady I’ve always wanted to be. (No pressure for one jacket, right?) Everlane recently came out with a more stylish version which makes me feel like I can’t be too far off base with this one.

Everything I’ll be binge-watching on this long ass flight

You probably already know, but the flight from LA to Sydney is 15 hours. 15 HOURS!! I did this length once before and made the tragic mistake of sitting in the window to sleep but then also being boxed in and not being able to pee for what felt like 12 of those hours. Won’t happen again.

Plus this time I’ve downloaded a whole bunch of things to binge watch on Netflix. Thank god they let you save things for offline watching now. Have you seen any of these? Which is your favorite?

  • Dark– Hannah already raved about this one back in January but I’m just getting around to watching
  • The Young Victoria
  • Mudbound
  • The Boss Baby– Mainly so I can understand the quotes my friend’s kid is always telling me
  • Seeing Allred
  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3

Queer Eye

queer eye obsessions

After hearing about how great the new Queer Eye is from my mom, then receiving a Snapchat from friend-of-the-blog Alisa of her literally crying watching an episode, I finally jumped into it. I love a good makeover show and I was expecting it to be a lighthearted journey of self-improvement for some sadsack dudes. Instead, I got served more emotions than I knew what to do with. Thought you were going to watch a southern dad get upgraded from his depressing outfits to a nice suit? Yeah, you’ll get that, but with a side of discussing the relationship between black men and police officers in the south. Want to watch a self-conscious engineer glow up into the beautiful man he is? Great, but get ready for some conversations about what being a gay man really means. THE TEARS YOU GUYS. Get watching, but keep the tissues handy.

Completing my transformation into an elderly woman

I’ve long maintained that I was born age 65 and just continue to get older.

Well, it turns out my body has finally caught up with my mindset. Just like everyone’s favorite nursing home resident, I came down with shingles this week. SHINGLES. LIKE A 95-YEAR-OLD WOMAN. I don’t even know what to say. It’s painful and annoying. Fun fact though, if you’re ever looking to self-diagnose shingles of your own, the rash will only stay on one half of your body. If you were to draw a line down the middle of your body, the shingles will never cross the midpoint. I thought that was really interesting, and it explained why it took the doctor all of 30 seconds to diagnose me upon seeing my diseased torso. Anyways, if you need me I’ll be playing bingo before my early bird dinner special.

This has been another week of And Then We Tried Obsessions, where we share whatever we’re obsessed with each week. Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Gift Guide: Indoorsy

Struggling to find gift ideas for your favorite people? We’ve got you covered with our And Then We Tried gift guide! First up: your friends and family who are decidedly indoorsy. While we can’t claim to be experts on much, things to buy people who like to stay inside is definitely in our wheelhouse.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
