We’re glad the stress of the holidays is behind us and we can look forward to 2018 and all our new resolutions (see our ambitious Whole30 routine). Even with resolutions to be better people, we’ve found the time to be obsessed with new things this week. Check out what made the cut below.

Winter Boot Hunt

Sorel 1964 Premium LTR Winter Boots

I got a pair of winter boots for Christmas that were super cute, but my feet were FREEZING the minute I stepped outside. I’m ready for an upgrade from my eighth-grade winter boots, so I’ve been ordering every winter boot option I can find. I got these boots from Sorel, but don’t love the removable felt liner, I can’t shove my foot into the boots easily since the liner moves around. Do you have a favorite winter boot? My boot must-haves: waterproof, very warm, not giant/hideous.

Riverdale

Riverdale Netflix Obsessions

This holiday break has included a lot of driving time for my boyfriend, Tai and I. To break up some of the drive (and while he makes endless business calls) I’ve been watching Riverdale like a child with an iPad in the car. If you haven’t seen it, it’s based on the Archie comics and stars all the usuals; Betty, Veronica, Archie, and Jughead. It’s strangely good, has an air of Pretty Little Liars murder and mystery with just enough actual plot to make me keep watching. Can be binge-watched on Netflix.

Fun Fact: Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty, grew up in the same town as Hannah and Michelle. Michelle even babysat her!

Cricut Maker

Cricut Maker obsessions

My Christmas dreams came true and I got the Cricut Maker. Now apparently this thing can cut fabric, leather, balsa wood, vinyl, and mat board. Plus has a calligraphy pen and scoring stylus. I AM SO EXCITED. Tell me, if you have one of these, what do I need to know? What are all the cool tricks?

Whole30 Meal Prepping

Anyone else feel like the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is like the Twilight Zone? I have no idea what day it is or what I’m supposed to be doing. I’ve taken a lot of naps. The only thing I’ve been doing (other than watching more Hallmark movies) is obsessing over our Whole30 plans. Michelle and I went to Costco the other day to pick up some Whole30-compliant essentials and I’ve found a few recipes to kick off the month. I think I’m going to start with this turkey bolognese with zoodles as my first foray into Whole30 cooking.

This has been another week of And Then We Tried Obsessions, where we share whatever we’re obsessed with each week. Let us know what you’re obsessed with this week in the comments and if you see anything in the wild that you think we’d be obsessed with, be sure to tag us @andthenwetried or use #ATWTobsessions

Attaching a wood fence to a chainlink fence

As I mentioned in my last fence/gate update post, I helped Erika attach a wood fence to the chainlink fence in her backyard. The process was similar to when I converted a chainlink fence to a wood fence, except in this case, we left the chainlink fence intact. This method is a good option if you want to add a little more privacy to your yard or camouflage a chainlink fence while you wait to save up for a completely new fence.

Gift Guide: Indoorsy

Struggling to find gift ideas for your favorite people? We’ve got you covered with our And Then We Tried gift guide! First up: your friends and family who are decidedly indoorsy. While we can’t claim to be experts on much, things to buy people who like to stay inside is definitely in our wheelhouse.

Obsessions: 10.19.18

You wanna know what we have been decidedly NOT obsessed with in the past month? The blog. Womp womp. We’re hopping back in this week, but we’ll be posting a bit more sporadically for a while. Here’s hoping you all loved getting caught up on Michelle’s driveway gate plans yesterday. See what else we’ve been obsessed with in this week’s And Then We Tried Obsessions.

Fence Updates and Two-Panel Wood Driveway Gate Plans

Hellooooo, I’m thinking about fences again! You all had the pleasure of following along as I moved and rebuilt the fence in my backyard and then converted a chainlink fence into a wood fence along my driveway, and now it’s finally time to build that driveway gate. Of course, I can’t just build a driveway gate and leave it at that, I’ve also decided to cap the entire fence to cover up the dogear pickets and give everything a cleaner and more finished look. HOORAY!
